What is Hyper Heat?

What is Hyper Heat?

Everything You Need to Know About Mitsubishi's Hyper-Heat System
Hyper-heat Heat Pumps: Keeping Your Home Warm When Its Freezing Cold Outside
The cold climate today is way worse than half a decade ago. It's colder, harsher, and just plain intolerable. As extreme climate becomes a normal occurrence, your main heating source turns out to be the most important equipment inside your home. If you're wary that your old heating system might leave you out in the cold during winter, then it pays to know about Hyper-heat or Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) technology, what it does, why do you need it, and how it can completely solve your heating challenges at home, no matter the climate and where you live.
What is Hyper-heat?
Hyper-heat is Mitsubishi Electric's latest innovation in heat pump technology. It is ductless and typically uses a more enhanced, more powerful, and more efficient compressor. What’s behind these power and efficiencies is Mitsubishi’s hyper-heating INVERTER® (H2i®) technology that enables the heat pump to provide both cooling and heating even during extreme cold climate condition.
What's All the Hype About Hyper-heat?
When it comes to heat pump system, hyper-heat is the just the best product in the market right now. Offering an excellent capability to deliver heat even in extreme cold climate, it is simply the most advanced and pioneering innovation when it comes to heat pump technology. If you’re looking for the most powerful heating heat pump or a better supplement to your main heating source, then a hyper-heat system is the way to go.
Why Hyper-heat is a Significant Advancement in Heat Pump Technology?
Most traditional heat pumps can’t just handle extreme climate. Hyper-heat systems can. In fact, even though Mitsubishi designed and owns this technology, many other manufacturers have already adapted and integrated the system into their respective advanced heat pump models.
What Makes a Hyper-heat System Unique?
Remember that the hyper-heating inverter™ heat pumps are mini split systems. This means that it is composed of an indoor unit called air handler and an outdoor unit which is the compressor. As a ductless mini split, hyper-heat solutions are reversible systems, which means they can heat or cool your room depending on your desired mode of operation. To heat your room, it pulls air from outside through the outdoor unit, brings it inside, and distributes it inside the room through the indoor air handling unit; to cool your room, it absorbs the warm air inside the room, converts it into cool air, and sends it back for circulation through the air handling unit. Take note that as a mini split heat pump, a hyper-heat system works through heat transfer, a process that facilitates all the heating and cooling processes. This heat transfer is made possible by the refrigerant that circulates in a cyclic process through the indoor and outdoor units—either by absorbing heat or by releasing it.
Where Would the System Get Heat if It’s Freezing Cold Outside?
As you’ll recall, a heat pump works by absorbing the heat outside and releasing it inside the room. Now, you might ask: if it’s freezing cold outside, where would the system get the heat to process and circulate inside? Well, here’s where one of the basic principles of heat transfer comes in—heat naturally flows from a warmer object to the cooler object. During extremely cold climate, any object outside your home that becomes colder than the outside air absorbs heat from the air. In the same manner, the heat-pump, by dropping the temperature of the refrigerant at a level below the temperature of the outside air, is able absorb heat from outdoors. This heat is subsequently circulated indoors.
How Does Hyper-heat Work in Subzero Climate?
When it comes to traditional heat pumps, the amount of their refrigerants drops when the weather hits the subfreezing point, making them not able to work as efficiently. With a hyper-heat system, this kind of limitation is solved through the use of another Mitsubishi innovation—the “flash injection” bypass circuit. This mechanism helps increase the volume of the refrigerant that circulates through the system. To give you a better idea, here’s how the hyper-heat system works in a subzero climate:
  1. The refrigerant is evaporated at a very low pressure so that it would be able to absorb heat from outdoors.
  2. After the heat is absorbed, the system sends a superheated gas to the indoor unit.
  3. The gas becomes a liquid vapor mix and it goes straight to the separator. The separator is where the vapor and the liquid is separated.
  4. The heat exchanger pulls the remaining heat and the liquid vapor mix becomes a subcooled liquid.
  5. The outdoor unit pulls the heat from the air and the liquid turns to gas.
  6. The heat is released and distributed indoors.
  7. As the refrigerant is bypassed to the compressor, the refrigerant flow is increased, enabling a more stable and continuous heating even if the temperatures drops to subfreezing point.
Why Should You Choose a Hyper-heat Solution Over Traditional Systems?
One way or another, you’ll have to face the reality that your old heating system at home is not going to be effective enough to deal with extreme cold climate. When that time comes, you’ll again resort to augmenting your system. The problem with this option is you incur more costs; and of course, on top of the hassles, there’s some risks with the typical alternative heating sources. Going with the hyper-heat system will save you money and all the inconveniences that you normally deal with traditional systems. If you’re still contemplating whether hyper-heat is the most ideal option for your home, check out the following benefits:
    • Consistent Warm Comfort Even During Extreme Climate. Traditional heat pumps are not designed to work in extreme cold climate. So, if you have a heating solution that has been with you for more than a decade, it's most likely not giving you enough warm comfort that you need. With a hyper-heat system, you can stay comfortable inside your home even if the temperature drops to a sub-zero level of -13° F.
    • Superior Heating. All hyper-heat systems are the best when it comes to heating performance. In the case of Mitsubishi hyper-heat systems, they are capable of providing you with 100% heating capacity at between 0° F and 5° F outdoor ambient, and up to 85% heating performance down to -13° F outdoor ambient.  Click here to shop systems from all Brands that provide superior heating.
    • Significant Cost-savings. When your conventional heat pump system is not working enough to keep you warm during winter, you’re naturally forced to augment it with a costly and maintenance-intensive heating solutions, like gas, oil, wood, or propane-based heating systems. With hyper-heat system, you wouldn’t have these concerns. And definitely, there will be no costs on fuels. On the contrary, the system is so energy-efficient that you can actually save money on your energy bill. Advanced hyper-heat systems like those from Mitsubishi, for instance, are up to 30.5 SEER, which is considered an industry-leading efficiency. In fact, these systems have exceeded the efficiency expectations that Energy Star rating puts them at Tier 2 level.
    • Zoned Comfort. A hyper-heat system is capable of providing precise temperature, and this gives you the luxury to control the temperature inside the rooms that you often use. Additionally, it is the most ideal solution if you want to heat any room inside your home that is not connected or can’t be reached by your existing heating system. A garage that you’d like to repurpose as a new living space is a great example. Also imagine being able to work inside your basement during the coldest days of winter without worrying about the freezing cold.
